Copenhagen National Museum, Denmark - Copenhagen National Museum

Museum

Alongside Vestergade, lies the National Museum which is enclosed by Ny Vestergade and the Frederiksholm Kanal in Copenhagen. Between 1989 and 1992 the museum was totally modernized and significantly extended. The spacious foyer is munificently proportioned and its vaulted glass covering gives it a friendly ambience. Twisting staircases lead to the upper floors. The main structure is connected to other sections by an enclosed glass boardwalk; some imposing runic stones are displayed in a pergola. In one room the tourist can obtain information about the museum's various departments and exhibits with the aid of videos and a computer.
