Charminar is the major landmark of this Nizam city of Hyderabad. The two words of Urdu, Char and Minar are combined together as Charminar which means four pillars. Built by Sultan Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591 AD is situated on the east bank of Musi River. The monument has four arches and the structure is made of granite, limestone, mortar and pulverized marble. Listed among the most recognized structures of India, Charminar is the iconic structure of Hyderabad. This historical Masjid or mosque is a true representation of Islamic architecture.
