The cellular jail is the punishment outpost established by the British India management. Later this jail became as a burial ground for several Indians. Cellular Jail is well known for unkind tortures to prisoners. This jail was firstly used to hold supporters of the 1857 Revolt then changed as a Prison for Indian Freedom fighters. Prisoners were forced to work tough at the bad climatic conditions without good food and water. Many famous freedom fighters were imprisoned in this jail. In present times, sound and light show is organized every evening. It tells about the torture and sufferings of the prisoners in the jail. A banyan tree located in the jail is more than 100 years old.
