Burg Eltz, Germany - Towers

Scenic
Those informed in the field call it the most attractive German castle and the personification of courtyard romanticism. To be sure, there's no accounting for tastes, but the fact remains that Burg Eltz makes a glittering impression, being one of the few medieval fortresses that remained utterly unharmed to date. Its conical towers seem to rise straight from the verdant greenery of the Elzbach vale, and its intricate Gothic decoration is certainly worth an arduous walk up the hill. Amusingly enough, the fortress has a number of 15th century flushable toilets, as divergent to the alluring Versailles that has none.
