Being renowned as the first ‘Swadeshi Movement’ steel plant of India, it is a famous attraction in Bokaro. It is also the 14th integrated public sector steel plant in India which was established with the help of Soviet and then got merged with the Steel Authority of India Limited, SAIL. It houses 5 blast furnaces presently among which the first one was begun on 2nd October 1972. The plant produced various products like hot rolled coils, hot rolled sheets, hot rolled plates, cold roll coils and sheets etc.
