Bhau Daji Lad Museum is the oldest museum in Mumbai which used to be known by the name of Victoria and Albert Museum previously. Later it was renamed after the name of Ramkrishna Vitthal Lad who is lovingly known as Bhau Daji.

 

It is located close to Byculla Station. The museum is a single-storeyed building which has been recently renovated by the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage. Its library houses a huge collection of rare maps and old manuscripts. The museum also houses paintings, clay models and bronze, silver and copperware. Some delicate items made of ivory can also be seen here.
