With an initial idea of making a replica of Windster Castle of England, the Bangalore Palace was a brainchild of Rev. Garret. He was appointed as the first principal of the Central College which was previously known as Central High School in Bangalore. The making of the entire palace stated in 1862 and continued till the year 1944. The first buyer of the palace was Chamaraja, who was the then king of Mysore. He bought it for rupees. 40,000. 35rooms were initially present here which was later renovated by the kings and their heirs. A special ballroom is present inside having many exquisite paintings.
