The famous Badrinath Temple, located at a height of 3133 meters, is the most sacred pilgrimage destination for the Hindus in Uttaranchal. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is located at the banks of River Alaknanda enveloped by serene and tranquil surroundings. This ancient is black in color and is believed to be in existence since the period of Vedas. The beautiful temple is divided into three sections. The first one is Garbha  Griha where the magnificent black colored idol of Lord Vishnu is placed in Padmasana posture. The other two sections are known as Darshana Mandap and Shobha Mandap where prayers and other rituals are performed. There is also another temple dedicated to Goddess Laskhmi. Moreover, the main temple complex is also encircled with 15 idols of various Hindu Gods and Goddesses that attract the attention of the devotees.
