Avantiswami Temple, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir - Scenic views and for calm and peace atmosphere
It is a significant temple in Srinagar. Avantipur is situated at a distance of 28 km from Srinagar in Anantnag overlooking the river of Jhelum. This shrine is devoted to God Vishnu. The foundation of the town of Avantipur was laid by Avantivarman was the first king of the Utpala dynasty. Avantivarman here built two splendid temples, Avantisvamin and Avantisvara. While Avantisvamin is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Avantisvara is dedicated to Lord Shiva. During the medieval period, these temples were attempted to be destroyed and the Government of India has carried out mass restoration work to preserve these temples.
