At Akaka Falls State Park, situated alongside the northeastern Hamakua Coast, one gets to witness two beautiful waterfalls on one short ramble. The pleasant 0.4-mile uphill hike will take you all the way through a verdant rainforest filled with wild orchids, bamboo woods and draping ferns. As you follow the tiled footpath, you'll first see 100-foot Kahuna Falls. Continue to follow the loop around the curve, and you'll discover soaring Akaka Falls which plummet 442-feet into a stream-eroded ravine. Beautiful Akaka Falls is perhaps Hawaii Island's most well-known waterfall. This place is easily reachable and this walk takes less than an hour.
