The Lakhya Dam is known for its lush green forests and verdant landscapes that surrounds the entire region. This 100 m high dam is built across the Lakhya stream which is a tributary of River Bhadra. Spreading over an area of 572 hectares of the Shola Forest Valley, the dam is surrounded by hilly terrains and offers a fantastic view of the nearby surroundings and dense forests of the region. It is a dam of silt and was built by Iron Ore Company of Kudremukh in order to collect waste material carried out after different mining operations.
