Renowned as the highest distillery of the world, the Kasauli Brewery was established in 1820 by Edward Dyer. It is located in the outskirts of the city and possesses the ideal climatic conditions and water facilities similar to Scotland that are essential for a good brewery and distillery. After its establishment, Dyer started distilling India Pale ale and Malt Whisky which was as fine as Scotch whisky. However, due to insufficient availability of spring water, this brewery got shifted to Solan and now there is the distillery in Kasauli which is the oldest working distillery in Asia.
