Karanji Lake is one of the marvelous spots in Mysore and is very pretty place to be at. Located at the foothills of Chamunda Hills and hovering over an area of 90 acres, Karanji Lake is one of the most stretched lakes in Karnataka and one could capture the mind-boggling view of herds of migratory birds flocking over there. Most commonly seen there are pelicans, darters and painted storks. The entire credit for creating such a marvel goes to the King of Mysore as he was the main founder of this concept. Actually, he initially made this lake as a water reservoir basically used for the daily routine work by the local folks of the city.
