Also known as sonekaghar, KanakBhavais a famous shrine housing richly ornamented idols of Lord Rama and Sita. The temple got its name from the statues which are embellished with a large amount of gold ornaments sitting on a gold plated throne. Originally said to be built by Rani Kaikey for Sita as a mark of her repentance, the temple has been restored by several kings. But historical evidences suggest that Rani Krishnabhanu Kunwari of Orccha built it in the year 1891. Apart from beautiful idols of Ram and Sita, the place also offers magnificent view of sunrise and sunset.
