Just 5 km from Kurukshetra, Jyotisar is the actual place where Lord Krishna preached the lessons of Bhagwat Gita to Arjuna during the battle of Mahabharata. The word Jyotisar is derived from the two words; ‘jyoti’ means ‘light’ and ‘sar’ means ‘essence’, thus it denotes the essence of enlightment. There is a holy Banyan tree at Jyotisar under which the holy Bhagwat Gita was originated in which Lord Krishna narrated the doctrine of Karma and Dharma to Arjuna and also revealed his ViratRupa at this sacred place. A sound and light show is organized at Jyotisar for the visitors depicting the drama of Mahabharata.
