Janjira Fort is a 40 feet high fort was constructed by Emperor Malik Amber, the ruler of Ahmednagar in the 15th century. It is also believed that a fisherman of Murud built this massive fort to protect the region from the attack of the sea pirates. Initially, the fort was made up of wood but it was later destroyed by Buran Khan. It consists of various towers and turrets that were used by the armymen to keep guns. The main entrance of the fort is engraved with a beautiful stone carving of a tiger trapped by six elephants. A sweet water lake is also located in the fort that adds to the beauty of the entire place.
