Just at a distance of 500 km from Red Fort is the Jama Masjid, and is one of the biggest Masjids in India. Jama Masjid is also known as Masjid-i Jahān-Numā. Its construction began by Shah Jahan in 1650 and was completed six years later. The weekly Friday-noon congregation prayers of Muslims are usually done in the mosque. The mosque is so large that it holds up to twenty-five thousand worshippers. It lies in a very busy central street of Old Delhi, the Chawri Bazar Road. Do make a visit to this unique mosque.
