This is one of the largest mosques in India built in the year 1571 AD and is a significant religious monument of the city. The mosque was built by Akbar the Great after his Gujarat Victory. The main entrance gate of the mosque is known as the BulandDarwaza. Whereas the other entrance of the Masjid is known as BadshahiDarwaza. Geometric designs and colour tiles have been inlaid in the entire mosque. The mosque is adorned with inscriptions and is referred as a landmark. The attraction of this Masjid is the BulandDarwaza which is 54m high and has been pictured in many Bollywood movies.
