Jagannath Mandir, Agartala, Tripura - Religious belief and architectural grandeur

Temple

Dedicated to the Hindu Gods Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra, the Jagannath Mandir is located within the grounds of the Ujjayanta Palace. A feature which differentiates it from other temples is its octagonal base with four stories and the bright orange stepped up square and pyramidal cone-shaped shikharas adorning the temple. The building represents a unique mix of Hindu architecture in the interiors and Arabic style on the exteriors. The impression of ‘pradhkshin patha’ around the sanctum of the mandir further adds to its beauty and serenity. According to popular legends, the Neelmadhav idol of Puri has been donated from this temple itself.
