Gorkha, the hometown of the founder of the modern Nepal, King Prithvi Narayan Shah, the great, is located at an altitude of 1135m above sea level and at a distance of 156km from the capital. Gorkha is the place of origin of world famous Gurkha soldiers. The term "Gurkha" denoting those Nepali soldiers in the British and Indian Army and tantamount with the world bravery and truthfully, initially came from this place. Gorkha was one of the 24"' principalities known as Chaubise State. It was the youngest primarily in the west with poor and small population.
