Shopping is another prime attraction in Gangtok and one find lots of shops in the city. The most popular items to be bought from this city are masks, footwear, carpets, handicrafts, and other trinkets, traditional items like thangkas or religious scrolls and choktsees. There are various markets from one can buy lots of items and have an enjoyable shopping time.

Some of its markets are the Old market, New market and Lal market. One can also buy from cottage industry-cum-training center’s selling counter, which is a specialist in making Tibetan handicrafts like carpets, blankets, shawls, masks and other traditional crafts.
