A place of breathtaking beauty and thrill, the Edakkal Cave is just 3 km from Ambalavayal and 25 km from Kalpetta. The cave is actually a cleft of about 69 feet long and 22 feet broad formed naturally in the rock. Animal and human figures are carved on the walls of the rock showcasing the pre-historic period of the era. It requires 1 km trekking from Edakkal to reach the cave and this entire trek route is covered with coffee plantations. The caves are comprised of three sets of petroglyphs dated back to 7000 years and offers glimpses of Stone Age carvings.
