Ornamented with the title of one of the oldest monasteries in Nubra Valley, Diskit monastery is one of the main attractions. Perched at a considerable height of 10,310 ft above the sea level, Diskit is highly visited by the visitors to Jammu and Kashmir. Originally, built during 14th century and then handed over to Rimpoche of Thiksey monastery in 18th century, Diskit is the best example of Tibetan style architecture. Structure-wise the monastery is very attractive with a dome-shaped roof and also different painting done on its structure. This monastery is a home to more than 100 monks and is famous for its teaching technique of Buddhism.
