Daksha Mahadev Temple, Haridwar, Uttarakhand - Religious belief
Daksha Mahadev Temple is also one of the most ancient temples of Uttarkhand and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Therefore, the temple always remains flocked with the devotees and it is advisable to the visitors of Haridwar not to miss this awesome site. The temple is situated at the distance of 4 kms from the city center and at the south side of Kankhal town. As per few legends, it is believed that King Prajapati Dakhsa performed a yagya and not invited Lord Shiva, his son-in-law and because of that, her daughter Sati got angry and burnt herself in that yagya kund, which got named as Sati Kund afterwards. Thus, the temple retrieved its name after this event only.
