Dachigam National Park, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir - Wildlife and bird watching
The national park covers an area of about 141 square kilometers. It is located 22 kms away from the city of Srinagar. This park is divided into two areas like lower and upper Dachigam. The lower Dachigam can be reached by a taxi, but the upper Dachigam can be reached only by walking. In the year 1951, this park was declared as the national park. The winter season is the best time to visit this national park. People can see many animals like Himalayan marmot, Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, leopard, musk deer, etc. The Himalayan birds like blood pheasant, crimson tragopan, monal pheasant and Koklass pheasant can also be seen in the park.
