Located just 4 km from Mahabalipuram, the Crocodile Bank is an amazing place to capture the sight of different species of crocodiles and alligators. It was established by herpetologist Romulus Whitaker in 1976 in order to breed African and Indian alligators and crocodiles. Presently more than 5000 various reptiles are kept in an open habitat and water pools. Sprawled in a vast area of 3.2 hectares, this park is the largest crocodile breeding site in the country. A snake farm is also located nearby where the anti- venom is produced and is a popular tourist attraction.
