Situated at a distance of 152 kilometer to the south of Chittagong, Cox's Bazaar is the tourist capital of Bangladesh. Having the world's greatest unbroken beach slanting gently down to the blue waters of the Bay of Bengal against the charming background of a string of hill roofed with deep green forests, Cox's Bazar is one of the most gorgeous tourist spots in the world. Miles of golden sands, lofty cliffs surfing waves, unusual conch shells, multihued pagodas, Buddhist temples and tribes, charming seafood - these are specialties of Cox's Bazar. Cox’s Bazar is also well-known by the name “Panowa”, the literal version of which means “yellow flower”. Its other old name was “Palongkee”.
