Also known as the Vinay Vilas Palace, City Palace is an important landmark of Alwar City located at the foothills of the Alwar Fort. Built by Raja Bhaktawar Singh in 1793, the City Palace is a perfect example of Indian architecture with a blend of Mughal and Rajput styles. The main attraction of the palace is an artificial lake which was made by Maharaja Vinay Singh and a number of temples are there on the banks of this lake. Inside the palace, there is exquisite Darbar Hall where a beautiful gold and velvet throne is placed upon a large platform. The walls and ceilings of the palace are tastefully decorated with beautiful mural and mirror works. Now, housing several government offices and district courts in the ground floor premises, the palace is a much sought after tourist attraction in the town.
