Binsar is a popular tourist attraction located in the district of Almora and the place got its name from Lord Shiva who is known as Binsar Deo. The place once served as the summer capital of the Chand Kings. The beautiful place of Binsar is acclaimed as a calm hill resort nestled in the backdrop of the majestic snow capped Himalayan peaks and is regarded as one of the most wonderful hot spot of the Kumaon region. The most prominent attraction here is the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary which inhabits a variety of animal and bird species in a natural habitat. It houses around 200 species of birds and various species of wild animals that can be spotted in the sanctuary amidst serene surroundings. Moreover, the exotic variety of flora is also quite captivating in the sanctuary.
