Balcony House is about 220 years old and is the oldest enduring wooden residential building in The Bahamas. The balcony, from which the House gets its name, overlooks Market St., supported by wooden knee braces--a signature architectural trait of the 18th century loyalists. And this is said to be the oldest structure in the capital metropolis of Nassau. It has had a long and enthralling history through the years and today is a great museum that focuses on life during the early days of this isle paradise. The colonial house is in perfect condition and the interior has gone through a painstaking refurbishment process that has returned it to what it looked like when it was used to amuse some of the most famed guests who came to the isles.
