Maharishi Aurobindo Ghosh was a well known philosopher and an eminent freedom fighter who lived in Baroda from 1894 to 1906. The place where he stayed is presently known as the Aurobindo Ashram and is a must visit attraction in the city. It serves as a national memorial and a number of famous personalities of the country have taken a visit to this peaceful place. The ashram now houses a library having rare literature of Sir Aurobindo, a study room and a sales emporium. Regular yoga and meditation classes are also conducted at the ashram that offers the people an opportunity to spend some time in solace and tranquility.
