Located at the northern banks of sacred river Yamuna, Allahabad Fort is one of the massive monuments in the city. It is famous for its gigantic edifice and its construction style as well. Constructed in 1583 by Akbar the Great, the fort has three entrances. Within the fort, you can see Saraswati Kund, Jodhabai Mahal, Patalpur Temple, Akshaya Vat and Ashoka Pillar. The architectural style of the fort is quite elegant and eye-catching as it is perfect blend of the two styles – Hindu and Islamic. At present, the fort is under the control of military, therefore, one has to take permission before entering into the fort and only limited areas are open to general public.
