This is one of the historically important places in Pune that is famed for its connections with the Indian Independence movement. It is said that during the Quit India Movement in 1942, this was the palace where Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi were imprisoned along with Mahadeobhai Desai.
